Academic travel and Sabbatical leave

The University of Bergen supports academic travels and sabbatical leaves. The allocation is a gift from L. Meltzers Høyskolefond. Researchers from other universities in Norway and from UniResearch may also apply for a travel grant.

Support for academic travels

Researchers from the University of Bergen can apply for financial support for academic travels. Support may also be awarded to researchers from other universities in Norway and UniResearch:

  1. Researchers may apply for participation at conferences, seminars, visit partner institutions, fieldwork etc.
  2. Academic quality is the most important criterium.
  3. International cooperation shall be prioritized.
  4. Tasks/activities as chair, key note speaker, presentation of academic work (paper/poster) shall be prioritized.
  5. A researcher can receive a grant several years in a row if the criteria are fulfilled.
  6. Maximum allocation is NOK 50 000.

Support for sabbatical leave

  1. Researchers in a permanent position at the University of Bergen can apply for funding for sabbatical leave.
  2. Support will be granted to researchers that are already/or will be granted a sabbatical leave in the allocation period.
  3. Assessment of the application will depend on the quality of the provided program for the sabbatical leave.
  4. Academic quality on the research stay is the most important criterium. Internationalization and a period abroad will be favored.
  5. The support is for travel, accommodation and equipment.
  6. Minimum duration for a research stay abroad is 3 months.
  7. Maximum allocation is NOK 150 000.
