Honorary Doctorate Seminar: A conversation between Karl Ove Knausgård and Toril Moi
Welcome to a conversation between UiB’s new honorary doctor Karl Ove Knausgård and Professor Toril Moi
Main content
These astounding things, which you will soon encounter and see for yourself, are so easy to lose sight of, and there are almost as many ways of doing that as there are people. That is why I am writing this book for you. I want to show you the world, as it is, all around us, all the time. Only by doing so will I myself be able to glimpse it.
This is what Karl Ove Knausgård (b. 1968) writes to his unborn daughter in Autumn. Through his diverse and distinctive body of work, he also shows his readers the world— in a way that evokes resonance, wonder, and delight, and that reminds us of the importance of art in our lives.
In this conversation, held on the occasion of Knausgård’s appointment as a new honorary doctor, he meets Toril Moi, Professor at Duke University and a former honorary doctor at UiB.
The conversation will focus on Knausgård’s own authorship, while also offering insight into Moi’s and Knausgård’s views on literature more broadly. The event will be conducted in Norwegian.
The event is open to all interested.
Welcome!
