This is what BIFF writes about the films:
Burning out: "In one of the biggest hospitals in Paris, the doctors and nurses are constantly under pressure due to understaffing and severe budget cuts. Over a period of two years, director Jérôme Le Maire followed members of a surgical unit whose main job is to save lives, but who constantly have to make economical and ethical assessments in the hospital's pursuit of efficiency and productivity. BURNING OUT is a critical examination of the increasing expectations of speed and productivity in the health sector, at a time when more people than ever are getting burnt out in their professional lives". Language: French/English subtitles
Unrest: "Jennifer Brea is 28, working on her PhD at Harvard and happily in love, when she suddenly becomes bedridden with an inexplicably high fever, followed by severe pain and difficulty walking. After extensive tests Brea is diagnosed with ME – commonly known as chronic fatigue syndrome. Excluded from the real world, but with the ability to communicate via the Internet, Brea discovers that there are millions of people suffering a similar fate. UNREST tells the story of how she and four others cope with a disease modern medicine still doesn't take seriously." Language: English/no subtitles.
The screenings are free of charge.
