Externally financed postdoctoral fellow positions must apply for support through their respective financial sources (e.g NFR, Helse Vest, Innovest, Kreftforeningen).

Research grants are given in connection with stays abroad lasting from 3-12 months. Please note that support will only be given to take children for stays of 6 months or more. A one year grant might be divided into four, to cover four different stays abroad. Reasons for the need of multiple stays must be given. If the stay covers more than two calendar years, an application to register the entire amount on year one must be submitted. Whether the entire or just parts of the period applied for is granted, depends on economic resources.

Postdoctoral Fellows are encouraged to apply other financial funds for support. Please see the document on the bottom of the page.

  • The importance of the stay abroad, regarding for instance professional renewal, the possibility of applying new research methods earlier
  • The length of the stay (3-12 months)
  • The quality of the recipient academic group
  • Publication activity
