Ida Blom has passed away

Professor emerita Ida Blom has passed away at age 85. Blom was a pioneer of women’s history studies and had a major influence on the rise of women’s history research in Norway, Scandinavia and internationally.

Ida Blom passed away 25 November 2016. The historian made her mark as a pioneer of women’s history studies, and was appointed as the first professor of women’s history in Norway and later became head of UiB’s Centre of Women’s Studies in the humanities. Blom was also co-founder and first President of the International Federation for Research in Women’s History between 1987 and 1995.
