Realfagbygget is an iconic landmark in Bergen – both loved and hated! When it was completed in 1977, it was the largest building in the city, located right in the center and designed in a Japanese-inspired brutalist style. Now you have the chance to experience the building in a completely new way.

Discover world-leading research, visit rooms that have never before been open to the public, and attend lectures from UiB’s top researchers.

Everything is free and suitable for the whole family.

Here is what you can experience:

Vitenshow

Enjoy a science show with physics and chemistry experiments that explain nature’s mysteries in a fun way. Get ready for rockets, smoke clouds, and flames!

Suitable for everyone aged 5 and up.

Activities

Visit UiB Realfaghøyden’s academic environments and join in experiments and tests!

Learn how earthquakes are recorded, feel your hair stand on end with static electricity, learn math with soap bubbles, and revisit the famous plastic whale.

Suitable for everyone aged 10 and up.

Lectures in popular science

Learn more about current topics such as artificial intelligence, antibiotic resistance, and ski wax inspired by polar bear fur.

Lectures are suitable for adults.

Guided tours

Join guided tours of Realfagbygget. Dive into the building’s controversial architecture, visit some of the laboratories, and see unique objects and natural history treasures that are rarely displayed.

You will see parts of the university you have never seen before.

Tours are suitable for adults.

Café

The café is open and serves food and drinks.
