With the new sustainable development goals (SDGs) set for the year 2030, the VISJON2030 initiative is setup to contribute to poverty reduction in countries receiving development aid from Norway, with the explicit purpose of scaling up innovative solutions that promote achievements of the SDGs for education and health. Under the Visjon2030 funding mechanism, various types of innovation projects are planned to be supported targeting:

  1. Increased enrollment/reduction in dropout/improved learning outcomes in primary, lower- and/or upper secondary school;
  2. Increased job creation and lifelong learning through digital access; and
  3. Improved health of women, children and especially youth.

The formative dialogue research on the upcoming innovation projects is aimed at establishing solid knowledge foundations for the Visjon2030 funding mechanism. Departing from the notion of innovation as a process and examining the interaction of economic, social, legal, political and material constraints at key points in the value chain of the innovation projects, the research project seeks to understand the performance of the innovation projects and strengthen their implementation.

The framework for the formative dialogue research encompasses provision of research based inputs to the projects; improve learning and experience sharing in dialogue with relevant stakeholders; conduct scientific research on thematic issues in education, health and poverty; assess impacts using rigorous scientific methodologies; explore mechanisms and path ways for scaling up successful projects; disseminate knowledge through scientific publications; and share results and experiences to local communities, authorities, and other  stakeholders. We develop digital knowledge management platform to manage the complex sets of data generated through the innovation projects using state of the art technologies including a dedicated interactive website to enable results sharing with stakeholders and the public.
