I am Associate Professor of Quaternary Geology and Palaeoclimate at the University of Bergen. My research is centred around glacial geomorphology as an archive of Quaternary palaeoclimate change, and the dynamic evolution of mountain glaciers in response to climate change over geological and anthropogenic time scales.

I have a BSc in Environmental and Resource Geology (2007) and a PhD in Earth Science (2012) from the University of Manchester, UK. After my PhD, I was a Research Fellow at Aberystwyth University, UK, then Senior Research Fellow at the University of Sheffield, UK, where I held a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellowship. In 2022, I was the Fondation Herbette visiting professor at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. I am Associate Editor for the Journal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface published by the American Geophysical Union. My children were born in 2016 and 2019 and I had career breaks around those years. My ORCID is 0000-0002-3715-5554.

I supervise four current PhD candidates; Charlotte Curry who is investigating the impacts of mining for metals on Holocene glacier change in the Chilean Andes, Alex Scoffield who is examining glacier-lake interactions in the Nepal Himalaya, Daniel Thomas who is exploring the evolution of rock glaciers over large spatial scales using techniques such as Deep Learning applied to remotely sensed datasets and Karlijn Ploeg who is researching how well ice-marginal moraines record palaeoclimate.

I am responsible for the courses:

GEOV225 Field Course in Quarternary Geology and Palaeoclimate

GEOV181 Introduction to Earth Science and Informatics

I contribute to the course:

GEOV230 Glacial Geology and Geomorphology

My papers are accessible through either gold or green open access routes, and a complete list of publications is available at Google Scholar
