My special research topic has been occupational medicine for many years, and I give priority to projects in low- and middle-income countries. My PhD thesis concerned exposure to organic solvents and health effects in the nervous system, and I have special competence in Neurotoxicology. Most projects I work on are epidemiological, often in combination with exposure assessments at work.

Exposure to dust and airway symptoms at work has been one of my main interests the past year, as respiratory health problems are huge globally. In addition, I work on pesticide exposure and worker’s health.

Main partners for me are researchers from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia and Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences.

Other topics I have an interest in are shift work, noise levels at work and trafficking/modern slavery.

Also, I work on capacity building of surgery in LIC (Ethiopia and Malawi).
