My project as a PhD candidate explores the notion of "nature" in the 16th century French philosopher and humanist Michel de Montaigne's Essais and how this notion can inform us today.

I am further educated as a philosophical practitioner and member of the Norwegian Society for Philosophical Practice (NSFP).

What is philosophical practice?
"Philosophical practice is an emerging profession in which university-educated philosophers have specialized in conversing with non-philosophers, that is, with most people.

Philosophical practice uses dialogue as a method. A philosophical practitioner follows Socrates' example by asking thought-provoking questions rather than giving scholarly answers. Through conversations based on everyday, personal matters, the practitioner promotes philosophical reflection.

In a busy everyday life, it may be a good idea to stop and reflect on your own life and activity. By discovering the philosophical in the everyday, and the everyday in the philosophical, we see ourselves and our activity in a larger perspective. This can be personally rewarding and very useful." https://www.nsfp.no/.

Experience as a philosophical practitioner
As a philosophical practitioner, I have broad experience in leading dialogues, both one-to-one dialogues and group dialogues for, among others, private individuals, the Council for religious and life stance communities in Bergen (STL Bergen), the municipality of Bergen, Tekstallmenningen, Tidsskriftet Røyst and others.

My education mainly consists of a master's degree in philosophy from the University of Bergen (with a focus on climate ethics), as well as a master's degree in human rights and democratization from EIUC (Venice, Italy). In the past, I have, among other things, worked as director of the Council for religious and life stance communities in Bergen (STL Bergen).

I value wonder, good conversation, and I am concerned with the individual's development within a meaningful community, diversity, art and culture, and the human being's relationship to the environment and nature – among many other things.

You are more than welcome to contact me (emil.perron@uib.no) if you are interested in the following:
I offer both physical and digital one-to-one conversations, management of group dialogues, dialogue cafes, philosophy cafes, death cafes, Socratic dialogue, religious dialogue and philosophical walks in Norwegian, French and English.
