Erik Friis Reitan (b.1979) is a visual artist and currently Ph.D research fellow at the Department of Fine Art at KMD. He holds an MA from Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, and a BA in photography from Kent Institute of Art & Design, UK. Recent exhibitions include "Pleinair" at Visningsrommet USF and "Dwelling Pluralities" at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale collateral programme (India). His work is situated in the space between photography and installation, and he uses photographic prints and surfaces as a raw material for creating spatial situations. Through artistic strategies informed by minimalism and land art, he explores the relation between nature, technology and perception. In his Ph.D project "Teleportation" he focuses on how the photograph relates to mapping and navigation, and how photography sculpts space by acting as a transmittitter between physical locations.
