artistic research, artist book, 124 pages, 2021, Argobooks, ISBN-13 978-3-948678-06-7

In her audio- and video -installations, short films and lecture performances, Juliane Zelwies explores the psychology of social interaction, particularly with regard to (human) communication. Visually at home in the ambiguous borderland between documentary and dramatization, much of her work relies on an exchange with expert groups and individuals, which provides the basis for her research into the construction and deconstruction of narratives.

Juliane Zelwies studied Sculpture and Film in Stockholm and Philadelphia and holds a MFA in Media Art from the Berlin University of the Arts. From 2017–2020, Juliane was artistic research fellow at UiT Norges Arktiske Universitet, Academy of Arts (Norwegian Artistic Research Fellowship Programme) in Norway. She completed the fellowship with a PhD in Artistic Research from the University in Bergen in 2022. Her work is shown internationally in exhibitions and film festivals. Juliane`s video works are distributed by Arsenal–Institute for Film and Video Art, Berlin. Her artist book, artistic research, was published by Argobooks, Berlin in March 2021.
