In the CanCode, I explore codification of customs and norms among matrilineal Muslims of the Indian Ocean world. Focusing on the laws of inheritance and family endowments, I study historical and contemporary codifications among them in Malaysia, Indonesia, Comoros, India, Mozambique and Sri Lanka. This research intersects with my broader project funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO Veni grant) at Leiden University in the Netherlands.
