Within the Space Plasma Physics Group, I study basic space plasma phenomena by means of analytical theory, and fluid- and particle-based numerical models. Research foci are the dynamics of magnetospheric, as well as solar and astrophysical plasmas, both on macro- and micro-scales. A special research focus is the kinetic physics of magnetic reconnection, which is investigated through comparisons of analytical and numerical model-based predictions with advanced spacecraft observations.
