Research on clinical infectious diseases and outbreak investigations. Postinfectious syndromes. Several projects on the importance of antimicrobial resistance and ESBLs on morbidity and mortality in children in Tanzania. Placebo-controlled RCTs on cotrimoxazole prophylaxis in HIV infected patients with CD4 count over 350, and on hepatitis C treatment. Recently completed RCT on  probiotics to newborn babies. Clinical studies on COVID-19 including attack rate studies, vaccination and postinfectious complications. Ongoing placebo-controlled trial on antiviral treatment of COVID-19 and effect on long-term complications.

Experience in phase 1 studies, cohohort and case control studies, and randomized controlled trials.
