Pakwanja Desiree Twea is a trained economist and a PhD candidate at the Bergen Centre for Ethics and Priority Setting. With nine years of experience in the public service, she has developed a passion for generating evidence to inform policy and for closing the gap between research and policy.

Pakwanja's research interests lie in health economics, health policy analysis, and priority setting. As a PhD candidate, Pakwanja's research focuses on generating evidence to inform priority setting for surgical interventions and advocating for the prioritization of cost-effective surgical interventions in health benefit packages. Her research aims to contribute to improving access to surgical care, especially in low- and middle-income countries.

Pakwanja's professional goals and aspirations include continuing to contribute to improving health policy and practice through research and advocacy. She is committed to promoting evidence-based decision-making and ensuring that health resources are allocated efficiently and equitably.
