My PhD project focuses on how the Norwegian state expanded its scope to include economic matters in the 1930s. I study this by looking closer at the attempts to introduce regulation of the Norwegian trade in edible fats and oils, which was a internationally based trade in the period. The importance of this study lies in increasing our understanding of how the state's economic invovlement changed in the period, and why.
