Researching excessive fatigue in Norwegian nurses using the Survey of Shiftwork Sleep and Health. Part of the sleep, musculoskeletal complaints, infection and laboratory medicine (SMIL) research group at University of Bergen. Strongly interested in sleep, shiftwork, mental health and other factors impacts on fatigue.
2016 completed master’s thesis, “Effect of time of initiation and exclusivity of breastfeeding on postpartum weight retention of women who breastfeed at least 12 months”.

Fatigue in nurses (Stand Hiestand, Bjørn Bjorvatn, Siri Waage, Ståle Pallesen, Ingeborg Forthun).
This PhD project is researching fatigue in nurses using the Survey of Shiftwork Sleep and Health (SUSSH). Among other factors, the project investigates if fatigue is associated to various shift work schedules (i.e. night work), physical and psychological issues, and the relationship between fatigue and sleep. In a longitudinal study we are examining factors that may explain why nurses develop or recover from excessive fatigue.
