In my research, the relation between dramaturgy and philosophy is central. I have a particular focus on exchanges related to methodology and the theory of science, and productive interfaces between art and academia. In connection to this, there is a discussion in the realm of theory of science of the term "artistic research." How does artistic research (and the new artistic research training) ground its scientificity against traditional academic research? Which possibilities open up in and with esthetic practices that go outside of or challenge traditional academic methods and (dramaturgic) framework conditions for knowledge production and communication?

On-going research projects:

  • "Unntakstilstandens dramaturgi" (2018-2021) ("The Dramaturgy of the State of Emergency")
  • "Analogiseringen av det digitale" (2020-2021) ("The Analogization of the Digital")

In these projects, dramaturgic and esthetic theory is being tested against artistic experience and methods. The goal is to be able to contribute to a better understanding of the state of emergency as a concept and phenomenon. Central to these examinations is the performance complex "03.08.38 Tilstander av unntak".

Parallel to this work is a medial and phenomenological discussion of the digitalization process that under covid-19 has "forced itself" on the art in general and the performing arts in particular.
