Agreement after admission to doctoral education

All candidates admitted to the doctoral education must enter into an agreement with the other parties involved.

The nominal duration for the doctoral education period is three years. The period will be extended to a fourth year if duty work is a part of the employment contract. It is not acceptable to set up a timeframe for the doctoral education that is longer than six years.

The agreement consists of three parts:

Part A, General part. Part A is to be signed by the PhD candidate, the head of department and the dean.

Part B, Agreement on supervision. Part B is to be signed by the PhD candidate, supervisor(s), the head of department and the dean.

Part C, Agreement between external institution and UiB on the completion of the PhD education. Part C is to be filled in only for those candidates who
have an external employer or external workplace, other than UiB. This agreement can also be used for candidates who work at a department/faculty/research institute at UiB other than the one to which the candidate is associated through Part A of the agreement. Part C is to be signed by the PhD candidate, the external party and the dean.
