QUANTA in National Geographic
The groundbreaking research on the Origins of Counting has caught the interest of National Geographic.
The March 2022 Issue of National Geographic features the ambitious inquiry of the European Research Council (ERC) funded project QUANTA into the origins of counting in the BREAKTHROUGHS | EXPLORE section of the magazine.
National Geographic journalist Michael Greshko recognizes the complexity of the questions the QUANTA researchers grapple with as well as the magnitude of data they will pore over to find answers: Linguistic and ethnographic data, as well as artifacts.
The project “Evolution of Cognitive Tools for Quantification” (QUANTA) has been awarded a Synergy Grant from the ERC, a grant that enables researchers to address ambitious research questions that can only be answered by the coordinated work of researchers across disciplines.
