On 14 May 2018, Hilary was formally admitted as a Corresponding (Foreign) Fellow of the Roayl Society of Edinburgh by its President Professor Dame Anne Glover. Des Thompson (Scottish Natural Heritage) read his citation (see attachment below) about Hilary's many scientific, teaching, and mentoring activities, her international standing in the fields of Quaternary palaeoecology and vegetation history, and her great personal modesty. As Des said "An inspirational mentor of emerging environmentalists and ecologists, Hilary is one of the most modest and unassuming environmental stars we are likely to encounter."

Hilary's election is in recognition of her contributions to Quaternary palaeoecology in Scotland and Norway and to plant ecology and botany and Scotland and elsewhere. She joins the Organismal and Environmental Biology class.

Congratulations to Hilary on her induction!
