Ulrike Herzschuh who was a Marie Curie Fellow at EECRG for the whole of 2004, has been awarded the Albert Maucher Award for young geoscience researchers from the German Research Council.
Kathy Willis has been appointed the Tasso Leventis Professor of Biodiversity in Oxford.
Whilst he was an undergraduate (1963-1966) and a PhD student (1966-1969), John Birks spent much of his time photographing mosses and liverworts, finding about 80% of the 1200 species that grow in Britain and Ireland.
Hilary Birks won two prizes in the international Alpine Garden Society Photographic Competition in 2008 and one in 2009.
This week saw the submission of theses from five Masters students in the EECRG.
Congratulations to John Birks who has just been appointed Distinguished Visiting Scientist in the School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford with effect from 1 May 2010.
Kathy Willis, Professor II with EECRG, has just been elected a Foreign Member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (Biology Class). She will be formally admitted at the Annual Meeting of the Academy on May 3rd. Congratulations Kathy!
