Main content
Most welcome to this year’s Nordic Social law conference in Bergen, 26 – 27 August 2025. Please complete the registration form by 1 June.
The theme of the conference is: “Power, Individual, Society: Science and Politics in Nordic Social Law” (Makt, individ, samhälle: Vetenskap och politik i den nordiska sociala rätten).
Call for abstracts
Within the broad frame of the theme of the conference, participants are invited to send abstracts for presentation of relevant research in the field of social law. The latter covers both public and private law issues concerning, among other things, social services, social care, social security, social insurance, health and medical care, children’s rights, and human rights.
The organizing committee will arrange presentations in appropriate sections. The abstract should be a maximum of 500 words and submitted in Word or PDF. A short CV should be included, with name, position, and affiliation. The abstracts – and presentations – could be in English or any of the Scandinavian languages. Please upload your abstract to the registration form by 1 June. As a follow up of the conference, Nordisk Socialrättslig tidskrift will publish a special issue with contributions from the seminar. If you are interested in elaborating your abstract to an article, please indicate this when submitting your abstract. Articles will undergo a peer review process.
We will start the conference with an informal reception in the evening of 25 August, and the conference will take place from morning 26 August to the afternoon 27 August at the Faculty of Law, University of Bergen (located in the city centre).
The Faculty of Law will pay for meals and snacks during the two days, while participants must cover their travel and accommodation expenses.
For young scholars who are presenting, e.g. those writing a PhD, we will offer scholarships covering travel (economy class) and accommodation (at Hotel Zander K). If you are interested, please indicate this when submitting your abstract. Final confirmation regarding who will receive funding will be provided shortly after June 1.
