Structural Geology and Thermochronology

Field-based structural geology and thermo-chronology is being used to study the evolution of orogen and passive margin systems. Focus is on how re-activation of orogenic structures affects passive-margin structure in the East African-Antarctic Orogen-Indian Ocean margin system. The exhumation histories of the orogens and their rift margin equivalents are being quantified by structural and thermo-chronological methods, including U-Pb, Ar-Ar, fission-track and U-Th/He dating.
