The national teams are composed of senior researchers, post-doctoral and PhD candidates in each country. Norwegian researchers, post-docs, PhDs and research track students will also be affiliated to the national teams in the countries where their studies are based.

The project make up a scientifically strong group with a solid publication record particularly within research on gender and women’s rights, and sexual and reproductive health in Africa, and have a number of years of fieldwork experience in all three countries. The applicants have been involved in a series of externally funded interdisciplinary research projects (NUFU, NRC and EU funded), where one or more of the institutions in the South have collaborated with one or more of the partners at UiB. PhD-holders from UiB, who have gained their degrees through these collaborative efforts, are today employed in central positions at all the involved partner institutions in Ethiopia, Tanzania and Zambia.
