Bjarte Jordal's studies of ambrosia- and bark beetles have revealed four new species to science in Madagascar. The species were described in  ZooKeys 352: 9–33.  Phylogenetic analyses of morphology and DNA-sequences show unique characteristics of a new genus, Remansus, appearing as sister group to the genus Scolytoplatypus.
