The research school serves the needs of PhD candidates in linguistics and philology at the University of Bergen.
The main aims of the PhD Research School in Linguistics and Philology at the University of Bergen are:
- to increase the quality of the PhD program and the PhD candidates’ education,
- to provide an academic and social meeting place for its candidates,
- to improve the completion rate of the Faculty’s PhD program.
The research school is directed by Professor Gunnstein Akselberg, Department of Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies, and Professor Kevin McCafferty, Department of Foreign Languages.
The research school started operating in October 2004 and offers a program based on a flexible yearly cycle.
The research school is intended for PhD candidates in linguistics and philology at the University of Bergen, but welcomes PhD candidates from other institutions as well, subject to certain limitations for individual courses.
