Centre for Early Sapiens Behaviour (SapienCE) is a Centre of Excellence (CoE), funded by the Norwegian Research Council. Over the next decade, SapienCE will consolidate UiB and Norway's position as a world leader in early human origins research.
SapienCE was established in 2017. The centre is built around a team of international scientists specialised in the fields of archaeology, psychology and climatology. The interdisciplinary team is led by Professor Christopher Henshilwood. SapienCE is collaborating with the University of the Witwatersrand, NORCE, Royal Holloway University of London, Université de Bordeaux and Universität Tübingen.
