Being group leader at the Sars Centre is a privilege and also a challenge. As a matter of fact, they enjoy very good infrastructure and financial resources for building a research group in a short time on the project which they have defended during the recruitment process. Their group can and should be expanded through various applications for extrenal funding.

Group leaders enjoy a high level of scientific freedom and independence, and incomparable availability for their research.

The selection of group leaders is operated by an International Committee, which gathers world known and open minded scientists. The group leader position is not tenure but for a period of 6 + 4 years, after which group leaders are expected to be highly competitive in their applications for tenure and prestigious positions in their home country, in Norway or elsewhere.
