The Sars International Centre for Marine Molecular Biology aims to address universally important biological questions, harnessing state-of-the-art technologies to leverage the unique advantages of marine and aquatic organisms.
New directions include a special focus on the interface between organismal biology and environmental sciences. The centre is poised to build on its partnership with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and its embedding at UiB, to serve as a hub to develop and effect local, national and international networks connected by shared interests in Marine Life Sciences.
The centre exploits a variety of mechanisms to develop scientific and academic activities at various organizational levels, mainly through research, academic exchange, and skill-oriented training and career development.
