The benefits of this affiliation include access to the library, an UiB email account, and participation in UiB's academic life. The affiliation does not provide housing, office space, or assistance with research permits or visas. Visiting research scholars must be fully self-funded and agree to the University's regulations regarding responsibility in research and publication.

To apply, the candidate must submit the following: (1) a curriculum vitae (2) a letter of introduction from the applicant's home institution and (3) a research proposal.

Applications and supporting documents should be submitted to the head of the department for approval.
