Climate Neutral University
Target groups: Employees working with climate change issues within relevant fields (economy, technology, communication, ++), or other employees who have a special interest in reducing their respective universities carbon footprint.
How can universities expand, while at the same time reduce their carbon footprint?
How can researchers become more outstanding and education more international, when everyone should be flying less?
The University of Bergen has recently launched an initiative to become climate neutral within 2030. This is an ambitious target, involving a reduction of our current emission level by 89% in the upcoming decade. In this regard, we would like to work together with other engaged universities to exchange ideas, challenges and best practices.
The program for the week is currently in the making and we are open for suggestions which can be included in the application. However, likely themes are;
Greenhouse gas accounting
Climate friendly travel policy
Green energy and sustainable buildings
Waste management and recycling
Climate communication and mobilization
We encourage you to participate in our working group so that we together can come up with better solutions for the future.
This group anticipates active participation by all, and we would like everybody to be prepared to give a presentation about their university’s best practice.
