EU/EEA/EFTA Nationals: Register and visit the Police Station

Student Category: Students from EU/EEA/EFTA countries, who are going to stay in Norway for more than 3 months.
Citizens from Nordic countries are exempted.


  1. Register at selfservice.udi.no before your visit. Follow the steps in the UDI Registration guide for students when registering. Select 'Hordaland police district, Service Centre for Foreign Workers (SUA)'. You do not have to book an appointment even if the system tells you to. Just make sure you show up on one of the reserved dates for UiB EU/EEA/EFTA students listed below. If you cannot attend any of these you must make an individual appointment.
  2. Visit Politiet/SUA (Service centre for foreign workers) at Nonnesetergaten 4, 5050 Bergen.

What you need: Bring original documentation or authorized paper copies of the following:

  • Passport/National ID card (original)
  • Letter of Acceptance (printed copy)
  • European Health Insurance Card/other health insurance documentation (original or printed copy)
  • Personal declaration stating that you have sufficient funds to support yourself (a letter in paper with a personal statement and signature).
