Economic support to master's students at the Faculty of Social Sciences

As a master’s student at the Faculty of Social Sciences you can apply for economic support in connection with data collection, research, participation in conferences or pitches and other expenses related to your work with the master thesis.

Main content

As a master’s student at the Faculty of Social Sciences you can apply for economic support to cover travelling expenses and/or other expenses related to your work with the master thesis. The application must be submitted two weeks before the data collection starts.

All expenses must be documented, and the Faculty of Social Sciences will disburse the economic support after the data collection is completed.

Approval from supervisor

Your supervisor on the master’s programme must confirm that the expenses are connected with working on the master thesis. Please attach a written approval of the plan with the application.

Disbursal of support

If you apply within the deadline, you will receive an approval of economic support before the work starts, but the economic support will only be disbursed when the data collection is completed. All expenses must be documented with receipts.

After the work is completed, you must send in the following to the Faculty of Social Sciences by mail:

  • A copy of the letter documenting granted economic support
  • A clear account of your expenses (date, short description of the expense, amount in NOK)
  • Original receipts taped to an A4 paper (corresponding to the expenses in the account)

It can take 3-4 weeks from when you hand in the documentation until the sum is transferred to your bank account.

Support for travels

You can apply for support for up to:

If you receive support for travel- or living expenses from other sources, you cannot receive economic support from the Faculty of Social Sciences.
