Target group: Ph.d. students, scientific staff

Aim and Content: The course provides an overview about strategies to find research data, research data search engines, and requirements for research data reuse.

Outcomes:

  • Overview about the research data support services at UiB
  • Familiar with the terms research data, dataset, open data
  • Familiar with reuse of research data as part of the research data life cycle, motivations for data reuse, requirements for reuse
  • Familiar with FAIR principles and the practical requirements connected to them
  • Understanding of licensing of research outputs, particularly Creative Commons licenses
  • Aware of strategies to access data sets
  • Familiar with public data archives, document archives, and discipline-specific/institutional/general-purpose research data archives; can use persistent idientifers to find datasets
  • Familiar with data search engines
