Most of the material at the University Library can be borrowed for four weeks, and possibly renewed.

Library cards
Students and staff at the University of Bergen use their student card or employee card as library cards.

For other users, a library card can be issued at any of the branch libraries. New users will be asked to show a valid form of identification. The library card can be used at all branch libraries.

For more information see Borrowing regulations

Loan periods
The loan period is specified for each loan. The standard loan period is four weeks, but it may be shorter. The loans will be automatically renewed up to the maximum loan period, normally four months (for students) or six months (for employees), unless requested by other users. Check the due date by signing in to My Account in Oria.

Interlibrary loans
For students and employees at the university of Bergen, we offer the service of interlibrary loans from within Norway or abroad. With these loans, the owning library’s rules apply when it comes to loan periods, renewals and recalls. If you wish us to apply for renewals, please contact your library.

Students Registered in Distance Learning Programmes
If your place of residence is outside Bergen, and you do not make periodical trips to your place of study, you can have the materials sent to your place of residence. You must pay for return postage of the material. To take advantage of this offer please contact your library.
