Ultradian Coordinator Eystein S. Husebye

Eystein Husebye is professor and consultant in endocrinology at the UiB and Haukeland University Hospital. He did a PhD in biochemistry on stimulus-secretion coupling in chromaffin cells and then specialized in internal medicine and endocrinology at The University Hospitals in Linköping and Uppsala Sweden. He trained as a postdoc in professor Olle Kämpe’s laboratory in Uppsala and established his own research group in 1996 in Bergen. He become Honorary doctor at Uppsala University I 2009.

 

In Bergen Husebye built up a translational research group focusing on organ-specific autoimmune diseases, in particular adrenal insufficiency. His approach has been to cover all relevant aspects of these disease including, pathogenesis, diagnostics, treatment and monitoring, quality of life and epidemiology.  He coordinated FP7 Euradrenal (grant no. 201167) and was WP-leader in FP6 EurAPS.
