Hovedinnhold

On Saturday, 3 November this year, BA and MA students participating in a NOFI200/300-level course on Food in the Middle Ages were invited to read papers at The 1st Bergen Student Conference in Old Norse Studies 2018. The students presented ongoing work with small projects which would lead to term papers, thus gaining experience in writing conference papers, public speaking, and asking and answering questions in a conference setting. The aim was also to become more familiar with conference technicalities, so the students got a typical call for papers and wrote abstracts, and the papers were grouped in chaired sessions.

The arrangement worked very well, and the papers showed a high quality – an encouraging experience which might lead to more student conferences in the future.
