A Panel of Chemicals Isolated from TCM in a Drug Screening Project

The cell culture model is used in a new drug screening program of novel chemicals isolated from herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). A number of purified and chemically defined compounds from a library of more than 3000 purified compounds derived from herbal TCM extracts at the Second Military Medical University in Shanghai, many of which are known to show anticancer activities, will be entered into this program. This is part of a European-Chinese collaborative network supported by the European Commission 7th Framework Program Contract Staff Exchange Program 2009 - 2012.

We screen for chemicals that preferentially kill malignant cells or reverse EMT or malignant transformation using high throughput screening and assays.
