Breast cancer, hematological malignancies, ovarian and cervical cancer are the most commonly encountered malignancies during pregnancy. Reports on the incidence of breast cancer in pregnancy vary from 2.4 to 7.3 per 100,000 deliveries, depending on study population and definitions used. Awareness is growing that cancer can be treated during pregnancy, but the effect of this on maternal and neonatal outcomes is unknown. The International Network on Cancer, Infertility and Pregnancy (INCIP) registers the incidence and maternal, obstetric, oncological, and neonatal outcomes of cancer occurring during pregnancy. In this seminar an overview of the activities of INCIP will be presented, and results will be discussed from analyses reporting on the oncological management, and obstetric and neonatal outcomes of patients registered in INCIP and treated during the past 20 years. Associations between cancer type or treatment modality, and obstetric and neonatal outcomes, along with future INCIP perspectives will be reviewed.

The International Network on Cancer, Infertility and Pregnancy acts under the umbrella of the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO) and aims to facilitate international collaboration in further studies of cancer in pregnancy.
