Mål og innhald

This module will prepare students to develop the critical reflection component of their exam project.

Various written formats will be explored, such as project descriptions, artist statements, manifestos, manuscripts, creative texts, and so on. Students will be given exercise in articulating a critical and contextual awareness of their own practice in relation to art history and theoretical frameworks, and will ultimately work towards finding their own voice within text-based expression.

Key questions:

How are references used and cited?

How are complex issues conveyed as text?

What is the difference between an academic text and an artist's critical reflection?

    written assignment demonstrating: reflection on individual artistic practice employing a critical approach

    The module is evaluted every third year according to UiBs quality system for education.

    The Art Academy at The Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design holds the administrative responsibility for the module and study program.
