Federico Meschini: "E-lit is a four-letter word". Literature, book, computer and narration. Aporia and digressions around intangible concepts and ineluctable remediations

"Ebooks, digital editions and electronic literature are different manifestations of the use of the digital medium for remediating textual content, each of them with its own background and tradition. On the other side, given the specific characteristics of digital representation and computation of information and the current pervasiveness of digital communication, crossings and intertwinings between them are inevitable, and moreover they are currently taking place in several ways, including also other expressive forms whose roots are not tied to the written word, such as videogames. What are the effects and consequences of this polymorphic landscape also for what concerns the printed book, which cannot by any chance remain untouched and immutable by this process?"
