Binyaruka is a health economist working with the Ifakara health institute (IHI) in Tanzania since 2011. Binyaruka holds a Masters and Bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) in Tanzania.  In 2014, he joined the PhD programme at the university of Bergen in Norway through the Centre for International Health (CIH) under the department of Global Public Health and Primary Care (IGS).

Since 2011, Binyaruka is working on a project which focuses on Impact evaluation of the payment for performance (P4P) programme in Tanzania. This project is the basis of Binyaruka’s PhD research.

Binyaruka’s PhD thesis focuses on the demand-side and supply-side heterogeneity of the effects of P4P in Tanzania. It is based on a large quantitative households and providers’ surveys in Tanzania.

Through his studies Binyaruka is aiming to influence health policy particularly on healthcare financing policy which may enhance equity on healthcare and access for universal health coverage. His research outputs will also inform the national rollout of the RBF programme in Tanzania.
