«Be rebellious – go vegan!» Young Norwegians' rhetorical framing of sustainable lifestyle
On Thursday, 28th January 2021, postdoctoral fellow Ida Vikøren Andersen held a presentation on «Vær rebelsk – bli veganer!» Norsk ungdoms retoriske framing av bærekraftige levemåter.» (English: "Be rebellious – go vegan! Young Norwegians' rhetorical framing of sustainable lifestyles") for the research group Environmental Humanities (HUMKLIM).

In her presentation, Ida Vikøren Andersen presented a study of debate pieces and speeches written and performed by young Norwegians between 2016 and 2020. Andersen analyzes how young people understand and communicate individual actions to mitigate climate change, here understood as the act of taking on a "greener" lifestyle. In her study, Andersen has a special focus on the rhetorical framing of alternative sustainable lifestyle choices that break with society's norms and supposedly "normal" life.
