FracFlow

The FracFlow project has the main objective to develop a fundamental understanding for multiphase flow in fractured porous media using interdisciplinary research.

This project will take a first-principles approach to develop a modeling and simulation tool for fracture mechanics in deformable porous media, that accounts for both fluid pressure and capillary effects as dominant driving forces.

Network Inpainting via Optimal Transport (NIOT)

The NIOT project goal is to develop new mathematical and numerical tools for the reconstruction of networks from corrupted images. Its ultimate goal is to apply these tools in the reconstruction of blood vessel networks from MRI scans.

Gradient flow modelling of multi-phase flow in deformable porous media (GradFlowPoro)

The goal of the project is the study of a thermodynamically consistent mathematical model for multi-phase poromechanics.

Thermo-Mechanical Subsurface Energy Storage (TheMSES)

The overarching objective of the TheMSES research program is to provide the mathematical models and simulation technology required to assess large-scale deployment of subsurface thermo-mechanical energy storage in the context of intermittent renewable energy.
