The Political Economy of Protracted Displacement
In this webinar a panel of leading migration researchers gather to discuss the concept of protractedness in relation to displacement. The discussion of protractedness looks to material and structural conditions shaping different actors’ experiences and perspectives of protractedness.

Although protractedness clearly holds a temporal dimension, this panel seeks to engage a conversation about protracted displacement include and beyond temporality that assesses other constraints and opportunities between local events and global structure, through a political economy framework.
Our panel of experts will be addressing topics from their research such as EU-policy (Morten Bøås, NUPI); the economy of protracted displacement (Tewodros Kebede, Fafo Institute for Labor and Social Research); protracted (im)mobility (Synnøve Bendixsen, UiB) and protracted aspirations (Sarah Tobin, CMI). The conversation will be moderated by Benjamin Etzold (BICC) who heads the Horizon 2020 project TRAFIG.
