Growth factors from stem cell conditioned media

Growth factors are extracellular signaling molecules play a major role during morphogenesis, tissue development and repair.

Hovedinnhold

A number of growth factors have been identified in bone and dentin, such as bone morphogenic protein 2 (BMP-2 and -4), transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-b1) and fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF-2). These growth factors act as chemotactic signals to recruit progenitor cells and stimulate their proliferation and secretory activity. Additionally, signaling molecules that stimulate neuro- and angiogenesis are crucial for hard tissue development and healing process. Moreover, the complete tissue remolding process considers coincident reactions of inflammation and healing sequences. Groups of growth factors derivative from mesenchymal stem cells (conditioned media) on tissue engineering have been tested. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells-conditioned media has also investigated in the healing process of many tissues. The primary interest of this project is to investigate the connective tissues formation as a signs of healing process as well as evaluate neural and vascular responses to the group of growth factors and cytokines derivative from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.
