Dr. Silje Kristiansen er ein kommunikasjonsforskar innan feltet kommunikasjon og offentleg oppfatning av tema knytt til klimaendringar og natur. Med ein doktorgrad frå Universitetet i Zürich, Sveits, og ei omfattande bakgrunn innan forsking og undervisning, nyttar Dr. Kristiansen no sin kunnskap og erfaring i si stilling som førsteamanuensis ved Universitetet i Bergen.
Som tilknytt medlem av CET, Senter for klima- og energiomstilling, og Institutt for informasjonsvitskap og mediestudiar, utfører Dr. Kristiansen forsking på ei brei rekkje emne knytt til offentleg kommunikasjon av miljøspørsmål. Forskinga hennar fokuserer på å forstå korleis media rammeverkar og kommuniserer informasjon om klimaendringar og andre miljøproblem, samt korleis publikum oppfattar og responderer på denne informasjonen.
I løpet av doktorgraden sin i Zürich samarbeidde Dr. Kristiansen med Prof. Dr. Heinz Bonfadelli og Prof. Dr. Mike S. Schäfer ved Institutt for kommunikasjons- og medieforsking. Doktoravhandlinga hennar med tittelen "A Phase Model Elucidating Media Attention To Nuclear Energy Risk" er publisert som ei monografi og er tilgjengeleg som open tilgang.
Finansiert av Swiss National Science Foundation sitt Early Postdoc.Mobility-program gjorde Dr. Kristiansen postdoktorarbeidet sitt ved Northeastern University i Boston, USA. Der samarbeidde ho med Prof. Dr. Matthew Nisbet.
Etter tida si i Boston arbeidde ho som førsteamanuensis ved State University of New York, ved College of Environmental Science and Forestry i Syracuse, New York, USA.
For tida arbeider Dr. Kristiansen med fleire prosjekt, inkludert forsking på miljøvennlege atferder, med fokus på miljøvenleg matinntak. Ho held òg fram med arbeidet sitt med å forstå korleis media rammeverkar og kommuniserer informasjon om miljøproblem, og korleis publikum oppfattar desse same problema.
I tillegg til forskinga er Dr. Kristiansen òg ein erfaren og dedikert lærar. Ho underviser i emne knytt til kommunikasjon, miljø og offentleg oppfatning.
