I am a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Archaeology, History, Cultural Studies and Religion, working at the CanCode-project.

I defended my PhD at the Department of Comparative Politics at UiB in December 2020. My PhD thesis was a monograph about the historical trajectory of the Islamic Council of Norway. Seen broadly it was an organizational study into the challenges of representing Islam in a Western European country like Norway. I am now working at converting this thesis to a book.

In the post doctoral research project I am doing at the Cancode-project (2021-2024) I am moving from studying organizations to studying texts. I will look at how Islamic texts are canonized in the Norwegian context, using translation as a lens. Which texts are translated, and why? What does the process of translating Islamic texts tell us about the development in Islamic thought in Norway and Scandinavia more broadly?
